Books and Chocolate

Books and Chocolate? Are you kidding me? How fabulous! Two of my favorite things!

Our local library people had a stroke of near genius when they started the Books and Chocolate event a few years back. They load up all of their books they don't need on their shelves anymore, donated books, duplicate copies of books, etc. and set them up in a fabulous location in town. Then, they have people donate absolutely decadent plates and platters of chocolate confections...anything from chocolate chip cheesecake, to mint iced brownies to ooeygooey fudge.

The event is free. Yes, free. Today was the day, and a stunning local bed and breakfast was the chosen location.

My Lovely friend and I took our kids....Aren't they cute in the pic?

There were books everywhere. On tables all around the wraparound porch and in three large rooms inside. We looked at books and nibbled chocolate divineness for a solid hour!

I left with two bags packed full of books. There is no charge for the books. We are just asked to give a donation for what we think the books are worth. How cool is that?!?!

Since I haven't blogged on American Idol in awhile, our Rayray is going to blog tonight in my place. So without further adieu, here's your American Idol recap, through the eyes of a 13 year old. What You Missed....

Why is it that when there's tons of great stuff to blog about, I drop the ball and don't blog!!! Perhaps it's lack of time!!! Anyway, I'll catch you up on what you missed with a photo essay. Our Jelly Bean becomes St. JellyBean every Christmas. He grows out his beard and has his whole head dyed white. He has an awesome "suit." Not many folks get a private photo shoot with Santa in their living room! (This pic was only after phase one of beard-dying.) My nephew brought his fiance "home" to meet us all. She's a tiny little cute thing and we so enjoyed being with her! Fiance had never been to a Winn Dixie but loves the book "Because of Winn Dixie." So at 9:00 one night, guess where we took the poor little deprived child! Fiance is an avid basketball player.
